Margaret Deland letters and manuscripts, 1898-1908.

The collection consists of eight items, including six letters, a poem, and a signed passage from Old Chester tales. The letters: to Mrs. A.L. Lumey, postmarked 7 Aug. 1898 from Kennebunkport, Maine, agreeing to a speaking engagment in Middleboro, Mass.; to Miss Walley, 13 Nov. 1908, from Boston, declining an invitation to pour tea as she is pressed with work; two letters to Mrs. Pitman, undated, concerning attendance at meetings, mentioning Abby Morton Diaz, Annie Fields, Sarah Orne Jewett, and Celia Thaxter; to Mrs. Hubbard, undated, agreeing to a lunch engagement. Also, to Mr. F.E. Chamberlin, undated, asking him to telephone her to discuss an article he had written her about; also, the short poem, The Fire dance, signed; hand-copied page from Old Chester tales, The provinces of Dorothea, signed.
